Description
Margaux: Margaux was one of five wines to achieve First Growth status in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855. These wines marry masculine power with elegance, velvety tannins, and sensual textures. Flavorful aromas and perfumes of ripe dark berries, tobacco, truffles, cassis, and violets are the signature of these Grand Vin. The Chateau Margaux vineyard consists of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc for the red wine grapes. The final blend on average usually contains close to 85% Cabernet Sauvignon in most vintages. The wine is characterized by great purity of fruit with silky textures and unique floral characteristics. The best vintages of Chateau Margaux are: 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2000, 1999, 1996, 1995, 1990, 1989, 1986, 1985, 1983, 1982, 1959, 1953, 1929, 1928, 1921
The 1990 is a lovely wine, with a fragrant bouquet, soft, medium-bodied, smooth-as-silk flavors, fine concentration, enough acidity for focus, and a fine finish. Drink it Now
