Sku: 34833

A separate estate, not a second wine, this is a soft, fruity wine that is much more accessible than the flagship Valandraud, but it possesses good quantities of red and black fruits along with some damp earth and roasted herb components. The wine is savory, broad, and best drunk over the next decade.

Rating
The 2014 Virginie de Valandraud was surprisingly closed when I tasted it, although there is a sense of coiled up energy here, as if to say, come back in a couple of years. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin, a keen thread of acidity, surprising backbone and body with a vibrant, mineral-rich finish. This has great potential, but I would be wary of opening it too soon. Anticipated Maturity: 2020-20235 (Wine Advocate Review)
