2011 Amendment XXI Merlot NAPA VALLEY winery discription Amendment 21 is always a delightful and very pleasurable wine. It is a wonderful wine to drink both by itself and paired with your favorite dishes. Im very fond of this right bankinspired blend because of its approachability and complete lack of pretentiousness. It begins from the get go with smooth and heady aromatics of luscious black cherry, blackberry, dried currants and smoky, sultry barrel vanillin. Once opened up there are spicy characters and even a hint of game and brushfire that is pretty striking. The palate continues the pleasure with opulent flavors of sweet black fruit, licorice and cassis all wound with a creamy texture on the tongue. An incredibly rounded wine, the mid palate and finish are remarkable. There are never any elbows out as the taste sensations carry the back palate on for 30 seconds or more.
