Parker, Jr. Rated 95 Drink: 2016 – 2041 The opaque purple 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Romeo (97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot) displays notes of coffee beans and blackberries as well as some toast and charcoal embers. It is ripe and full-bodied, with a layered mouthfeel, and stunning purity and richness. Drink it over the next 20-25 years. This winery has been making terrific wines for a number of years, and the current lineup, put together by winemaker Kirk Venge, is just amazing. The10-acre estate vineyard sits at a relatively high 1,650-foot elevation on Soda Canyon Road. These are all dry-farmed vineyards planted in predominantly volcanic soils. This winery was founded in 2002 by Ed and Trish Snider. The production is modest at 4,000 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon from their holdings in the Stags Leap AVA as well as other sites, particularly Bacigalupi, Dutton Ranch and Llewellyn.
