Description
The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate vineyards (92% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) is a more restrained, tightly-knit effort exhibiting a dense purple color along with hints of cedar, spice box, underbrush, black currants, and plums as well as an attractive underlying minerality (a characteristic frequently noted in my extensive report on Napa Valley wines in issue #186). This cuvee will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age, and should last for 15+.
Mark Herold is the consultant behind the wines from this relative newcomer to Napa Valley. All things considered, this is an attractive debut performance by proprietor Tom Celani and consultant Mark Herold.
