Wine Advocate #199 Feb 2012 Robert M. Parker, Jr. RATED 91 Drink: 2012 – 2032 (35) Another wine to hit 15% natural alcohol, there are 2,000 cases of this blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. This estate is run by a young American entrepreneur, Steve Filipov, who uses Stephane Derenoncourt as his consultant. The 2009 is the best wine Godeau has yet produced. Made from 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc from 35 year old vines, this deep purple wine exhibits notes of blueberry and blackberry fruit, a creamy, super-intense, full-bodied texture, low acid and ripe, velvety tannins. It is a stunning Godeau from a property that is probably under the radar for most American consumers. Drink it over the next 20+ years. Score: BT Release Price: $NA Country: France Region: Bordeaux Issue: Web Only – 2010 Designation: Barrel Tasting Fab nose. Licorice and dark cherries. What a palate.
