Wine Advocate #146 Apr 2003 RATED 89 Robert M. Parker, Jr
Drink: 2007 – 2016
An up and coming Medoc property run by the ambitious entrepreneur Bernard Magrez, La Tour Carnet has come on strong of late and is finally living up to its reputation. The dense purple-colored 2000 boasts a sweet nose of graphite intermixed with cassis, licorice, and toasty espresso notes. As the wine sat in the glass, floral notes also emerged. Heady, ripe, and medium to full-bodied, it is the finest La Tour Carnet produced in many decades. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2016. A real sleeper
This property was purchased in 2000 by Bernard Magrez, who has done a superlative job at Pape-Clement and Fombrauge. The deep ruby/purple-colored 2000 (a blend of 54% Merlot and 46% Cabernet Sauvignon) displays sweet black currant and toasty new oak aromas and flavors. They have done a superlative job at Pape-Clement and Fombrauge.
