Woodford Reserve, the Official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby, is honoring this year?s ?Run for the Roses? with the release of its 2017 Kentucky Derby commemorative bottle. For the second consecutive year, the limited-edition Woodford Reserve Kentucky Derby bottle features artwork from award-winning equine artist Thomas Allen Pauly.
Detailed Description
A Chicago native, Pauly is a world-renowned equine painter and is the Official Artist of American Pharoah ? Triple Crown Winner. His painting ?Inspired? is featured on the front of the Woodford Reserve bottle. The image on the bottle features an elevated view as the thoroughbreds race to the finish line during the renowned Kentucky Derby. Additionally, a glimpse of the Twin Spires? and colorful audience fitting the grandstand can be seen. The neck band features vibrant green and Woodford Reserve?s signature copper color with the Kentucky Derby 143 date and Thomas Allen Pauly?s signature sealing the top of the bottle. A hang tag provides details about the product and the artist.
Woodford Reserve Kentucky Derby 143 – 2017 Limited Edition Straight Bourbon Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose:?A drizzle of honey and butterscotch, orange, dark chocolate and vanilla ice cream with toasted oak, old leather and a hint of smoke.
Palate:?Rich notes of brown sugar and coffee, charred orange, sweet malt cereal, almond oil, ginger spice and a hint of rum.
Finish:?Long, more cereal and oak spice for a warm finish.
Distillery Information
The Woodford Reserve Distillery has been distilling on the same site for more than 235 years, making it the oldest Bourbon distillery in Kentucky. Now owned by Brown-Forman?one of America?s largest wine and spirits companies?it has been refitted and set to expand.
