A strong and well-rounded wine, Barolo Villero reflects a soil richer in clay and limestone than that of Rocche di Castiglione, located in the same town. The bouquet offers intriguing and dense scents of violet, red fruits, cocoa and liquorice. The complex tannic texture displays a delicate sweet finish.

Rose petal, woodland berry, new leather and wild herb aromas demonstrate its Nebbiolo pedigree. Youthfully austere but loaded with finesse, the full-bodied palate delivers red cherry, cranberry, white pepper and star anise set against firm fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity. This is a classic Barolo that needs time to come around and will evolve gracefully for decades. Drink 2025-2043.

Wine Spectator

Plenty of earth and tar flavors mark this beefy red, whose cherry, leather and tobacco notes are waiting in the wings. Finds equilibrium in the end, but will require more patience than other 2013s. Best from 2022 through 2040. 550 cases made.
