Description
Rocking Horse Winery was established by Jeff and Nancy Doran in 1989. For over a decade and a half, they have been making wine with grapes from some truly remarkable vineyards.
One of the properties they buy grapes from is Garvey Family Vineyard in the middle of the famed Rutherford Bench. This is one of the best regions for Cabernet Sauvignon in the world.
They also source Zinfandel from Monte Rosso Vineyard in Sonoma County. These vines are planted high in the Mayacamas Mountains. Additionally, Rocking Horse Winery also buys Merlot and Zinfandel from the St Helena AVA.
Steve Lagier is the winemaker at Rocking Horse. He graduated from UC Davis with a Masters in Enology. Before joining the Dorans, he worked at Robert Mondavi Winery for 14 years. He specializes in making single vineyard wines that truly reflect the place that the grapes were grown.
The vintage on the label is incorrect and should read 2001
