eRobertParker.com #212 Apr 2014 Jeb Dunnuck Rated 94 Drink: N/A (150) A gorgeous vintage Rivesaltes, the 1974 Rivesaltes Ambre Vintage offers fabulous aromas of sweet wood spice, fig, cigar and toffee to go with a full-bodied, perfectly balanced profile on the palate. Layered and seamless, its rocking stuff thats made from 100% Grenache Blanc that spent 468 months (thats 39 years) in barrel. Drink it if you have it (although it will continue to thrill for many years). www.terrassous.com Importer(s): Regal Wines, Moorestown, NJ, (856) 985-6388, www.regalwine.com Fresh, filled with toffee, butterscotch and honeyed and glazed apricot flavors, offset by bright, citrus-infused acidity. The creamy finish has an airy texture, with plenty of lift. Drink now. KM Vinification: Settling of the juice before fermentation. Pressed and then fermented under controlled temperatures (below 20°). Then the fermentation is stopped by the addition of pure wine alcohol (mutage). Breeding: Aged in oak barrels. During this period a certain volume evaporates and this is know as ?The Angels Share?. Barrels of over 20 years old can sometimes be only half full.
